Idea Events Marathon sports assosciation , in conjunction with the
City of Siracusa present the
11th edition of the
annual Siracusa City Marathon , National podium race of 42,195
km. The race will take place in Siracusa , Sunday
21rd
Februaryl 2010, regardless of weather conditions.
PARTICIPATION
Professional and Competitive level
All
those whom are 18 years old or older before the
21rd
February 2010 , registered with FIDAL ( categories , Juniors
18/19, Promese 20/22, Seniors 23+, amatuers Male and Female,
Masters Male and Female, or other national sports federations
recognised by CONI and/or other sports promotional body
recognised by CONI. Foreign athletes registered with an
Italian sporting club may also compete .
Amateur level

All
those whom are 18 years old or older before the
21rd
February 2010 and are not registered with any sports
federation or promotional body recognised by CONI.
All
amateurs must enclose a copy of a medical certificate
confirming to be fit for professional sports activities, valid
on the
21rd
of February 2010. The original will be
presented upon request at collection of the race bib ; for
foreign citizens whom are not registered with any federation ,
sanitary rules from their country of origin apply. For these
athletes there won’t be a specific classification but a list
of arrivals with their times.
Disabled Athletes :
Disabled athletes registered with FISD or other sports
federations recognised by CONI may compete . Disabled athletes
are allowed to have personal companions following by
bicycle.

the Siracusa City Marathon there

official Marathon t-shirt.

The
following will be sent together with the registration sheet -
to be filled in
capital letters and duely
signed: receipt of payment, copy of FIDAL membership
card, and copy of the medical certification confirming to be
fit for professional sports activities, valid on the
21rd
of Februaryl 2010.
Clubs
sending registration on headed forms will take care to fill in
the information in
capital letters including the
athlet’s first name and surname , place and date of
birth, category, xxxxx

Pancali (Ortigie- Apollonium Temple)
Follow
on for the Marathon:
START – FINISH.
OFFICIAL TIMING:
Offical
times and classifications will be taken by the mircochip
system. The microchip will be returned together with race bib
and number. Athletes forgetting to wear the microchip will not
receive an official time or placing.
TIME
LIMIT:
Half Marathon
: 2 hours 40 minutes
Marathon :
6
hours
After
these times the oranisers can not guarantee the complete
closure of the course .
Refreshments and sponges :
In line
with FIDAL rules refreshment points will be provided every 5
KM along the course, spunges will be provided every 5KM
starting at the 7 KM point.
Athletes retiring:
Transport has been aranged to recover athletes whom retire or
are lost along the course. Athletes will be transported to the
finish line :
Medical services :
The
organisers will provide qualified medical assistance at the
starting and finishing points , ambulances, general medical
staff and volunteers .
Finish:
The
finishing line is located at the Place Pancali(Ortigie).
After the race athletes must return the microchip, receive
participation medals and the final refreshments .
Results:
Race
results will be posted in an overall category in order of
arrival and also for the various categories.
MARATHON PRIZES:
Overall
category :
The
first three men and fisrt three women in the overall category
will be presented with cups. The first five men and first five
women also receive monetary prizes. The monetary prizes will
be paid within
six months of the Siracusa City Marathon.
No prizes , monetary or other , will be given to Italian
athlethes , resident or non- resident , whom are not
registered with thef federal category FIDAL nor to foreign
athletes competing without the null-osta of their respective
national federation. Monetary prizes fall under the Art.67 ,
letter Mof DPR917/1986 and therefore will be subjected to
deductions provided for under Art.25 of the statute 133/1999
and succesive modifications.
National FIDAL category: (
Only
for athletes resident and registered in Italy )
Cups
will be presented to the first three men and the first three
women of the FIDAL category under the following categories (
AM, MM35, MM40, MM45, MM50, MM60, MM65 and over )
Half
Marathon:
Cups
will be presented to the first three men and the first three
women in the overall category . Monetary prizes will also be
presented to the first three men and the first three women.
The monetary prizes will be paid within three months of the
Siracusa City Marathon. For the FIDAL AMATEUR/MASTER category
the rules described under “National FIDAL category” are valid.
Disabled category:
Cups
will be presented to the first three men and the first three
women in the category.
Walk:
Cups
will be presented to the first five men and the first five
women in the overall category.
Prizes
can not be accumulated .

RECLAIMS:
In line
with the rules of R.T. FIDAL accompanied with the fixed sum of
€16.00, ri-imborsable in cases of agreement with the
aforementioned claim.

Rights :
By
registering for the Siracusa City
Marathon 2010, athletes explicitly gives the right to the
organising committee , together with Media Partners , to use,
still and moving images which may picture him/her whilst
participating in the Siracusa
Marathon 2010. To be used worldwide in any media including
promotional and/ or advertising material worldwide and for the
maximum length of time accounted for by law, regulations and
current treaties .
Other
Issues
:
The
organising committee reserves the right to modify the present
document at any time for any reason deemed necessary to
improve the organisation of the competition. For issues
omitted above the FIDAL and GGG technical and statuary rules
apply. Any change to service, location and time of the event
will be communicated in due course to all registered
athletes. Also they will be published on the internet site
www.maratonadiSiracusa.it Finally an information
pack will be delivered
by the
organisation together with the race bib.
